A very short-lived “Hallelujah!”

I don’t know how many of you have ever been to San Diego’s East County (anything east of La Mesa), so let me just tell you, it is NOT pleasant during the summer. We’ve been here for 3 years now, so I know what to expect. But this summer was not as hot as usual, and that made me worry. It made me wonder if global warming had anything to do with it. Well, I should have just kept my mouth shut, because as soon as I said that, it got HOT. Hellaciously hot. We were hitting the triple digits for a few weeks. It may have been higher, but the highest I saw was 106. We live in a condo conversion, so there’s no central air, just an air conditioner in the living room. All of our bedrooms are carpeted, and the building is stuccoed. SOOOO, when you walk into our hallway and into a bedroom (or the bathroom), it’s like walking into a damn oven. I swear, you couldn’t even be in there for more than a minute for fear that you might pass out. It even got humid for a few days there, which made the swimming pool so nice, I didn’t even scream upon entering it. Yes, I’m a wuss like that. Therefore, when school started on September 4th (for my eldest, who just entered the 3rd grade… I know, what?!?), and the weather got cooler soon after, rather suddenly, I might add, I said “Hallelujah!!” Ohh, it felt so nice. We could actually sit in the living room without the AC on. I only needed the ceiling fan on to sleep at night. One night, it was so cool, I actually needed to cover myself with the bed sheet. Can you tell where I’m going with this? Yes, the heat is back. I really hope it doesn’t last. I keep reading all of your blogs, and you guys keep talking about how it “feels like fall”. Well, there’s really no such thing here, it just gets less hot. But nonetheless, I wish I could say “it feels like fall”.
